Jack Campbell Signs 5-Year, $25 Million Deal with Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers Hope to Solve Their Goaltending Problems with Campbell

The Edmonton Oilers have signed goaltender Jack Campbell to a five-year, $25 million contract, the team announced on Wednesday. Campbell, 30, is coming off a season in which he went 17-12-3 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Oilers have been looking for a long-term solution in goal since trading away Cam Talbot in 2018. They have tried a number of different goalies in the interim, including Mike Smith, Mikko Koskinen, and Stuart Skinner, but none have been able to consistently provide the team with the stability they need.

Campbell's Pedigree and Experience

Campbell has a proven track record of success in the NHL. He has a career record of 113-71-16 with a 2.88 GAA and a .911 save percentage. He has also played in two Stanley Cup Finals, one with the Maple Leafs in 2022 and one with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.

The Oilers are hoping that Campbell can be the answer to their goaltending problems. He is a veteran goalie with a lot of experience and he has shown that he can be a winner. The Oilers are hoping that he can help them make a deep playoff run.
