Tottenham have appointed former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte as their new manager.

Conte has signed an 18-month contract with the Premier League club, with the option of a further year.

The Italian replaces Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on Monday following a poor run of form.

Conte is a highly experienced manager who has won league titles in Italy, England and the Netherlands.

He will be hoping to turn Tottenham's fortunes around and lead them back into the top four.

In his first press conference as Tottenham manager, Conte said that he was confident in the ability of his players.

"I have seen the heart of the players and I am confident," he said.

"I want to create a team that is strong, that has character.

"I want to see a team that fights for every ball and that never gives up.

"I believe that we can achieve great things together."
