Mitch Marsh on not bowling often for Australia in T20Is: 'We're lucky we've got Pat Cummins'

With Pat Cummins leading the bowling attack for Australia in T20Is, Mitch Marsh understands why he doesn't often get a chance to bowl.

Marsh is one of Australia's premier all-rounders, but in T20Is, he often finds himself as a specialist batter, averaging 20.26 with the ball in this format.

Marsh has only bowled 21 overs in 18 T20I matches since the start of 2022. In comparison, Cummins has bowled 174 overs in 35 matches during the same period.

But Marsh understands the logic behind the decision, with Cummins arguably the world's best T20I bowler. Cummins has taken 58 wickets at an economy rate of 6.56 since the start of 2022.

"With Pat Cummins in our team, we're lucky. He's the best T20 bowler in the world," Marsh said. "So I don't think I'm going to bowl a lot in T20 cricket for Australia, and that's fine. I just have to try and make the most of my opportunities when I do get to bowl."

Marsh has bowled just one over in Australia's first two matches of the T20 World Cup and didn't bowl at all in the warm-up match against India.

But he is still playing a key role in the team's success, averaging 38.66 with the bat in the World Cup so far.

"I'm just trying to contribute to the team in any way I can," Marsh said. "Whether that's with the bat or in the field, I'll do whatever it takes to help us win."
