Poilievre ejected from Commons after calling PM Trudeau "wacko"
Liberal Speaker censures Conservative leader for comments on drug policy
Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre was ejected from the House of Commons on Tuesday after refusing to withdraw comments in which he labeled Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a "wacko" for his drug policy.
Trudeau accuses Poilievre of seeking to override constitutional rights
The testy exchange between the prime minister and his chief opponent ended with the Opposition leader being removed from the chamber by the Speaker. Poilievre had been criticizing Trudeau's stance on drugs, which he called a "wacko policy from a wacko PM that's destroying lives."
Poilievre, who left the chamber with his fellow Conservatives, later repeated his attack on Trudeau's drug policy on social media.
Trudeau, in turn, accused Poilievre of seeking to override constitutional rights.
"The member for Carleton is suggesting that we should override the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and impose our own personal views on Canadians," Trudeau said.
